Conferences and Journals

  • Digital Service-Learning Workshop hosted by NERCOMP (the northeast regional EDUCAUSE entity) will be hosting a day-long professional development opportunity that offers an overview of the philosophical and practical underpinnings of digital service learning.   • 10th Annual Community-based Global Learning Institute is a two and a half day participatory experience for faculty, administrators, practitioners, community partners, and researchers who are interested in sharing and learning innovative global service-learning practices. The West coast institute will explore regionally relevant topics including: immigration, neo-colonialism, engaging diverse populations, civic engagement and citizenship. More information here.   • 2018 Pen to Paper is a two and a half day academic writing retreat hosted by Indiana Campus Compact and Washington Campus Compact designed to provide time, space, and resources to guide faculty, professional staff, graduate students and community partners working on manuscripts related to service-learning and community engagement. August 26-28, 2018 at the Dumas Bay Centre outside Seattle, WA. More information and registration here

  • International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement Conference, July 18-20, 2018 in New Orleans, LA. More info here

  • 19th Annual Engaged Scholarship Consortium: Transforming Higher Education through Engaged Scholarship. Hosted by the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities on September 30-October 3, 2018 in Minneapolis, MN. More info here
  • Impact: The Journal of the Center for Interdisciplinary Teaching & Learning Call for Papers for their special issue on community-based and service learning, slated to appear in Summer 2019. More info here. Submissions should be received by September 15, 2018.

Grants and Awards

  • 2018 Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award, an annual national Campus Compact award which recognizes senior faculty members (post-tenure or middle-to-late career if not in tenure line), is now accepting nominations from community partners, college presidents, provosts, or through self-nomination. Winners will receive a $2,000 award, free conference registrations and travel to attend the Campus Compact conference where the recipient and finalists will be honored.   • Paul and Joyce Aicher Leadership in Democracy Award is a $10,000 award given to an individual or organization that demonstrates the values of voice, connection, racial equity, and community change. More information on award criteria and nomination process here. Nominations are due June 15, 2018.
