Social Embeddedness

Exploring community engagement

Engaging with Community

Arizona State University engages with communities through mutually beneficial partnerships. Together, through these cross-sector collaborations, we can address community needs and foster positive change with local, regional, national and global stakeholders.

Through its charter, ASU affirms this dedication to community engagement by “assuming fundamental responsibility for the economic, social, cultural, and overall health” of these communities; “advancing research and discovery of public value;” and a radically inclusive vision that defines the university “not by whom it excludes but by whom it includes and how they succeed.”

ASU empowers all faculty, staff, students, and alumni to engage with the community through various models of engagement -- community-based teaching and learning, civic engagement, community-engaged research, knowledge mobilization, capacity building, place-based partnerships and PreK-20 pathways.

ASU's commitment to innovation and progress knows no bounds, and we believe that the most groundbreaking ideas are often born through partnerships. Whether you're an entrepreneur, researcher, educator or passionate advocate, we invite you to connect with us and explore the endless possibilities of collaboration.
