Exploring community engagement through the student experience

Social Embeddedness through Student Activities

Community engagement is a key aspect of a student's education, and student activities are a great way to facilitate this. Clubs and organizations provide opportunities for students to get involved in their communities and make a positive impact, while fostering a sense of belonging and connection. These activities offer leadership roles that allow students to develop professional skills such as organization, communication and teamwork through experiential learning.

Student Employment

On and off-campus employment opportunities where students gain valuable skills and make positive contributions to their community.

America Reads at ASU partners with local schools and community centers to send a team of paid college student-tutors to pair with children from low-income areas at Title I schools. A mentor relationship is fostered via small-group interactive activities targeting Arizona Academic Standards in reading, writing, and math.
