ASU cultivates conscientious students and graduates who possess the knowledge, skills, values and motivation to actively and responsibly engage in issues of public importance throughout their lifetime.
Changemaker Central @ ASU empowers students to apply their passion, knowledge, and expertise to create innovative solutions to local, national, and global challenges by providing space and opportunities to develop their social ventures.
Changemaker Central hosts seed-funding competitions such as the Woodside Community Action Grant and the Changemaker Challenge, it convenes passionate social entrepreneurs at the Start-up Summit, and coordinates community service opportunities such Changemaker Days of Service and Devils in Disguise to catalyze student-led social change.
The NGSC is a four-year leadership development program (with a two-year transfer track) where students study their chosen major, engage in practical elements of leadership, learn cross-sector collaboration and take internships each summer working on real issues in the public, private and nonprofit sectors all while pursuing their own chosen social mission. NGSC students train directly with ROTC cadets and midshipmen in leadership exercises and field training exercises.
Located in the ASU Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions, the Center serves as a dynamic, student-centric hub of activity that promotes, publicizes, and encourages political engagement and public service among ASU students and the broader community. It embodies ASU’s commitment to being an active agent of change, addressing society’s problems. The center prepares and empowers ASU students from all backgrounds to assume leadership positions in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
