The University-Community Partnership for Social Action Research Network (UCP-SARnet) can accept up to 10 interns for the summer and fall 2010.
The focus of the University-Community Partnership for Social Action Research Network is on utilizing ICT in providing educational resources for current and future leaders who are involved in achieving the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. We bring together students, teachers, community professionals, and activists worldwide (currently we have about 900 members in 61 countries) by creating opportunities for networking, collaboration, sharing knowledge and by inspiring community action research. Interns will become members of the network’s Executive Team and will participate in all daily activities related to the development of the network and building its library of resources.
During the time of their service interns will have an opportunity to learn about:
- principles the of participatory action research;
- the role of community leadership in organizing effective community action;
- the interdependence among local and global communities and benefits of international networking in searching solutions for global issues;
- the impact cultural context has on organization and effectiveness of community programs in different regions of the world;
- missions of most important local and global community organizations;
- how to use Internet resources and options for online collaboration in creating educational resources and community projects.
They will also have an opportunity to acquire skills allowing them to:
- develop internet networks;
- organize team work
- utilize ICT for building partnerships between universitie4s, community organizations and local governments;
- effectively communicate with the multicultural audience;
- edit the content of websites;
- organize virtual meetings;
- organize conferences.
The duration of the internship is negotiable. Although UCP-SARnet has an office located at the SCOB room 144 (ASU Tempe campus), most of the work will be conducted online.
